STUDENT TUTORIALS FOR specialist mathematics – TERM 3 PROGRAM

The term 3 Student ‘live’ tutorial programs for Specialist Mathematics has been posted on the Texas Instruments, Australia website. 

The aim of these FREE tutorial programs is to support teachers with student learning of term 3 concepts, whilst also demonstrating how TI-NspireTM CX CAS technology can assist in efficiently answering exam style questions. 

Prior to each event registered participants will be provided with the exam style questions that will be covered during the ‘live’ tutorial. In addition to demonstrating efficient ways to solve the exam style questions presenters will also provide tips and shortcuts.

All the presenters of these programs are experienced Mathematics Teachers who are also extremely knowledgeable with regards to using TI-Nspire CX CAS technology. It is a great opportunity for students to ask questions.

Teachers of course are welcome to attend too!

Tuesday 4 Aug – Vector Functions with James Mott.

In this Student focused webinar we will analyse the behaviour of time-varying vectors using the TI-Nspire™ CX CAS Calculator. In addition to plotting the path of an object described by a vector function, we will also determine if, and where, the paths of two objects meet, and if and when they ever collide. Tuesday 18 Aug – Vector Calculus with Bozenna Graham. (* start time 7pm instead of 5)

In this Student focused webinar we will combine vectors, differential and integral calculus, parametric equations and kinematics to describe the motion of particles in 3 dimensions. We will analyse how the velocity and acceleration vary with time given the position vector and also how to find the cartesian path starting with acceleration and initial conditions. Projectile motion and circular motion will be considered as particular examples. Tuesday 1 Sep – Mechanics (Statics) with James Mott.

In this Student focused webinar we will identify forces acting upon an object on a flat surface, an inclined plane, and objects connected by string. We will resolve the forces to determine what, if any, net force is required to ensure the object is in equilibrium. Tuesday 15 Sep – Mechanics (Dynamics) with Stephen Crouch.

In this Student focused webinar we will review Newton’s laws of motion and identify how calculus can be used to solve problems involving constant and variable forces. In this student focused webinar, we examine ways in which user-defined library functions and widgets can be constructed and used to assist students to answer SAC and exam questions in Further Maths.
