Workshops

TI-Nspire CAS for Beginners
Are you relatively new to the TI-Nspire CAS technology (calculator and computer software)? This session will focus on exploring the basics and important features of the Calculator, Graphs, Notes, Lists and Spreadsheets and Data and Statistics Applications. Learning the basics will give you confidence to use the technology with your students in the classroom. This is a session where your questions are answered and at its completion you will be saying “I did not know it could do that”.

Parabolas – Changing the focus
There is so much more to this amazing curve than ‘factorising and expanding’. The geometry application can be used to construct this truly amazing curve which then leads to a much better understanding of its properties and uses. Not wanting to leave factorising out completely, we will explore how a simple geometric construction can factorise quadratics in a very visual way. Our journey won’t stop there, we’ll also collect some data that can be modelled using quadratic functions. You’ll never approach this topic the same way again!
The content of this workshop is applicable for teachers in Years 9 – 12.

The Secret is out! Fast and Efficient Mathematical Methods and Specialist Exam Solutions.
Come along and check out how schools are using Notes and Widgets to accurately and efficiently tackle examination questions in Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. In the first part of this session, you will be shown how notes pages can be used effectively in examinations. In the second part, you will create your own notes page application and be introduced to the magic and power of widgets. The session will conclude with you creating your own widget. No prior knowledge of notes pages and widgets is required and you will receive some useful notes pages and widgets to provide to your students.
